Want to talk about vidya, or stuff loosely related to vidya? This is your place. Global rules are still in full effect, and shitposting/nsfw content is allowed, just make sure it's related to video games in some way.

It's pretty cool I guess. I just wish they didn't fuck too much with the difficulty of the gym leaders and stuff. It'd have been neat if they gave more of an incentive to trade or do battles with random players you come across. It's neat to have other people running around, but eh, most of them don't interact with others.

Oh hey! I just started playing this! Any anons wanna play w me? :)

Hi /v/! What are some games that are playable in a browser like chrome/don't require downloading anything? Asking because I've gotten all my devices taken away except my school chromebook.

Looking for mostly story-based games and RPG-maker type stuff but anything is fine!

Picrel is from Kimi Ga Shine/Your Turn To Die made by Nankidai and translated by vgperson. link here: https://vgperson.com/games/yourturntodie.htm

>Brigador: Up-Armored Edition - Stellar Jockeys & Gaussworks
I've been dying for another good mech game since Titanfall 2. This looked decent enough, gameplay hasn't really sold me yet, but I'm less than 2 hours in.

>Final Fantasy 7 (not the remake) - Square Enix

Bf bought this for me as a Christmas gift (I got him Ori and the Blind Forest), always wanted to get into FF, thought 7 was a pretty good place to start.

>Project Zomboid

It's a good online zombie survival game. Kind of janky at times, but it's got charm. I used to be a part of a big-ish Unturned Military RP server, so my familiary with DayZ inspired games should be good enough.

>.flow

because I played Yume Nikki and want more of them RPGmaker 2003 fever dreams.

Hypnospace outlaw does have a very interesting style to it. It manages to remain unique while also being reminiscent of that time, which I quite enjoy. Unfortunately, there's not much interaction beyond people reacting to actions you take in the game, but I feel like that really adds to the charm.
>Bitburner
I've looked at this for a bit, but I'm not really sure what it's about. Is it just like a programming game or is there more to it?

Bitburner is actually not completely programming from what I've seen, it's a mainly text-based game that takes place in a black and green terminal where you play a hacker in a cyberpunk dystopia. There are RPG elements to it, you can buy augments for your character, progress skill trees, etc.

A friend of mine, a computer science guy, is the one getting me into it. But I haven't played the game yet so I'm unsure of how exactly it works kek. One thing I've yet to see is the goal of the game, you can acquire money, converse with NPCs, and a few other things, but I have no idea what It's all going towards.

Bitburner is pretty much just a competent and entertaining clicker game where you try to acquire as much currency as possible and build a hacking empire.

it is fun though, it'll at least be an entertaining climb to the top level.

Played a little bit more of it, and it's surprisingly fun. Coding makes for a good puzzle mechanic. Even if the puzzle has about 15 different answers.

I only use RetroArch for RetroAchievements, and only because I couldn't use my gamepad on RetroAchievements' own emulator and the video settings in it aren't as good as RetroArch's.

For non-"retro" consoles (such as PSP, pic related) I just use separate emulators for each of them. That has always been my preference.

I've just recently been introduced to emulation, although only surface level. Was wondering if there's any tips or basic run throughs that would be helpful. My goal is to try it out on Animal Crossing New leaf before buying a steam deck basically.

 No.132

>>131
Depending on what you're emulating, it can be either really simple or a bit of a pain in the ass. Your best bet would be to look at the emulator websites or emulator wikis. They'll usually give you an idea of what they have working so far or what the best settings for specific games are.

Since AC is a first party title, odds are it'll work well enough though.

There's an empty Animal Crossing imageboard at canberrachan.org.

Yknow I hate MMOs, but for some reason Ragnarok Online has roped me in.
Is there any way to escape before it's too late, or will I be stuck grinding my life away on this game for the next decade and a half like everyone else who started playing?

 No.124

You'll come to hate it once you realise how tedious and grindy it gets, as well as the lack of periodic expansions that keep corpses like WoW shambling along.
Sadly, it is not the early 2000s anymore and the social aspects of most MMORPGs is dead in the dust, you'd be lucky to find a lively guild that's regularly active. Nonetheless, the world and storyline are vast enough to take a solid while to fully appreciate every facet they have to offer.
Enjoy your journey and nevermind the destination, and for the sake of all that is holy try not to rely on online resources.

What (private) server are you playing on?

That's precisely why I hate MMOs. They're too grindy for my tastes, but for some reason I enjoy it here. I genuinely couldn't tell you why. Maybe it's the environments? Enemy variety? Music? Who knows, I certainly can't pinpoint it.

>Sadly, it is not the early 2000s anymore and the social aspects of most MMORPGs is dead in the dust

I never got to experience that firsthand, even when I played Runescape back in 2006 I never really interacted with other players except to trade. A couple of my IRL friends have expressed interest in playing with me though, so I'll have to see how that pans out.

>and for the sake of all that is holy try not to rely on online resources.

Why's that? I haven't really used anything online since NovaRO offers commands like @whodrops [item] and @whereis [monster].

>What (private) server are you playing on?

I inadvertantly answered this, but I'm playing on NovaRO for now. I was going to do Shining Moon since it's pre-renewal, but it's very group-oriented and I'm too shy to ask other players in game to do stuff with me.

I hate myself for turning this into a rant, please do forgive.

Playing with friends sounds splendid; the more, the merrier. It used to be the case that one could make a few solid friends over the years by playing random MMOs but now folk are less willing to go try something out on their own unless their pals are already there, or they can coerce them to join in.
My comment regarding online resources was in an effort to emulate the good old '00s lack of comprehensive encyclopaedias, to get you to ask and explore, but it would seem that you're not too fond of the latter and the former has been resolved with servers implementing in-game itemid and monsterid search features.

As for the grind, it gets progressively worse until you reach the final stages of the game and begin collecting specialised resources/equipment for PvP, WoE, etc.. Don't get me wrong, behind all of that grind lies a terrific game with great mechanics and it tries its best to sprinkle novelty and charm all over to stop you from noticing the grindy aspects.

Now excuse me while I go get buzzed on some crack cocaine so I don't relapse on my RO addiction.

Nah you're fine, I enjoy reading and responding to long posts.

Yknow you actually raise a really good point there. I had a really tough time soloing a level 80 instance even though I was base level 102.
I'm planning to do Old Glast Heim eventually and at the moment there's no fucking way I'll be able to even get halfway through unless I reach the max base level and overstock on consumables.
Maybe I'll toughen up and ask folks around the game for help rather than relying on other people I already know. NovaRO has a surprisingly nice community, no doubt some friends could be made there.

>As for the grind, it gets progressively worse until you reach the final stages of the game and begin collecting specialised resources/equipment for PvP, WoE, etc.

Yeah I'm sorta noticing that right now. As great as Gunslinger/Rebellion is for newbies like me, the equipment is quite expensive for someone who hasn't fully figured out how to work the merchant class, and the hat quests take so many drops to complete.

>My comment regarding online resources was in an effort to emulate the good old '00s lack of comprehensive encyclopaedias

Exploring and figuring stuff out by oneself is pretty cool actually. I played Morrowind without a wiki or build guide, all I knew was the intelligence potion exploit and how to use the journal. Playing an RPG without looking everything up feels pretty nice, I'm not sure I can explain why I feel that way.

Post too long. Click here to view the full text.

Varrock can be entered through the north gate from the Wilderness, through the east gate, through the south gate from Lumbridge, and through the west gate from Barbarian Village. Each entrance has level 21 guards surrounding it.

I had pic related once. It was pretty fun. You put your smartphone in there and play games on the oculus store. I only reccomend it if you want to test how it is to play in VR, beacuse your battery gets really hot and low after some time.
