It's perfectly reasonable what you're asking, I made that vague to discourage people from even trying anything they might be worried crosses the line but I am not surprised someone wants clarification.
Obscene content is basically something like gore, obviously pornographic images (this isn't a porn sharing site), anything depraved like shit and whatnot, you know, that sort of stuff.
As for porn dump threads, it's just to make it clearer we ain't a porn site. By definition you shouldn't be posting blatantly pornographic images (I'll leave what is pornographic up to the user, I think people should be able to have some judgement on that). But as for the cutoff limit, the short answer is 1 basically.
I try to be relatively lenient with this stuff, I just don't want this to be fapchan/gurochan anything of that sort.
So risqué pics are fine, just don’t make it porn/nude or turn it into an image dump? Risqué images defined by pic related.
I ask this because I actually want to be more tasteful with nsfw content.
why do you even want to post NSFW
Yeah of course that's fine, I'm not a total cuck.
What kind of place do you guys want grimchan to become? I know Unity wants to let the place develop organically, but what do my fellow users want to see the place as?
everything and nothing at the same time, the only thing I really want is for this place to not appeal to all the internet srs bsns people
Seems like it's just chill imageboard people who bother to stay here. There are a lot of us but it's not like cancerous.
A chill and relaxed imageboard without all the shitflinging - bants are just bants.>>117
Also uploaded a BUNCH of stuff to my MEGA folder, I am growing stronger………

>>118 I'd like for there to be more gothic and horror stuff here, like on Dreamchan.
/boo/ is pretty dead, I bet you could put that sort of thing on there
Will yentexting ever be integrated into grimchan?
Originally it was a script made by some guys at 4chan's /qa/ but it got spread to some other boards as well, although in a very humble amount
I don't insist on yen being the quote symbol instead of '>' but I think that purpletexting would fit into grimchan's aesthetics very nicely
Interesting. You're right about the idea of purpletexting.
I'm not sure how easy it'd be to implement such a thing on tinyboard, but I will look into ti
This is a complaint that doesn't deserve it's own thread. If you change the style to V8ch, the reply element blocks the style button so there is no way to change it back unless you delete the element or clear site data.
I know, frankly I didn't think anyone used v8 so I got lazy but in hindsight people probably cycle through them to try. I'll remove it tonight.
I'm working on a fork of w1cca with a different colorscheme to make up for the loss of a theme.
also why aren't you just using Rugby :^)
I am sickened by it.
This is what I'm running. Just added grimchan support.https://pastebin.com/3xgce0vJ
Additional suggestion: make the sharing of txt files or other scripts available for the file attachments.
Thank you! And that's a good idea, I'll fuck around in the instance config tonight.
Can you add kind.moe to Friends if they do the same?
Are you from there? Sure I'd be happy to.
Can you enable the Miku CSS style?
If you've got it sure.
I can probably do that. I'll fuck around with it a bit tonight. Didn't realize it was in the stylesheets folder, I guess I haven't fucked around with the defaults enough
Thanks so much! Looks amazing.
No worries, I didn't do much beyond copying and pasting a couple bits but I'm glad you like it.
We need to find more cool things for Admin to implement considering that he listens to us!
He always has, nerdlingers.
Do you have the purpletext code on hand? It might be something to do with how it's meant for a few specific 4chan boards as opposed to Grimchan.
based, might show up myself.
There's a minor problem with rule 6.
>6. Avatar/avi posters may have one containment thread, more threads centered around them will be considered spam under rule 2.
Rule 2 is the illegal shit rule
>2. Do not upload, post, request, or link to anything that violates local, United States or Canadian law.
The rule that should be referenced by rule 6 is rule 3.
>3. No advertising or spamming.* If you want to promote your imageboard on Grimchan, please message the Grimchan Twitter (@GrimchanXYZ) or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Maybe it's intentional though. In that case, you do you.
Thanks for noticing that. I added the 18+ rule a long time ago and forgot to account for the fact that it fucked up the numbers, since they're all just "<li>" on my end.
>>333>Thanks for noticing that.
It was bound to be brought up sooner or later.>since they're all just "<li>" on my end.
Man, web development is weird. Glad I don't have to bother with it. I'd expect things to be pretty simple, but I'm totally clueless.
Well, take it easy boss man.
why is grim flossing?
because he's a based zoomer
I want a zoomie girl to say pog. I hate zoomer females so much.
Thank you. I want to kill myself now. :)
somebody get this man a chug jug
is there a way to report posts here?
there is another one of those lewd cgi pics with a sketchy short link attached to it on /b/ atm.
any idea what is up with that spam? it glows in the dark and seems to be plaguing many other boards for some time now.
Triangle icon next to your poster name (anonymous, in this case)
We currently have a staff of 5 people, which is unprecedented for a place of this size, solely for this one form of spam. I'll give you all the details I know.
>It is not a bot
This is a real person making these posts. They change the text to avoid filters, fill out captchas and read ban messages (bots don't see them). >They find imageboards through lists
If you look on various boards and pastebins, there are compiled lists of all known active imageboards people make, usually for fun. These lists are what people like this use to find places to spam.>This spam has a set timeframe, further cementing the fact it's a human
I've generally observed from banlogs when these posts happen, though occasionally it deviates.
I check the site probably upwards of 20 times per day, from about noon to 4am. We have other mods on throughout the day doing the same, and then one mod who tends to be around for the late hours.
Anyway, reports always help, and we are doing our absolute best. Hope this was concise.
Do this IPs start with 5.143 ? The board I don't moderate was getting the same CGI naughty spam and all the evader's IPs for this year begun with that. You can probably just rangeban if that's the case, it worked for us
No, the IP ranges change periodically, otherwise I would have done that. They tend to change every week or so.
sorry, I probably have the rona, I'm more than likely not going to be able to do much
>>343>read ban messages (bots don't see them)
It probably is real people but i just have to say, bots can "read" ban messages. When you attempt to post, it redirects you to the ban message. If the system says the banned person has "read" the message, it really just means that IP has tried posting since being banned, being redirected to the ban page. It does not actually quantify if it's been "read" in a human sense, so a bot *can* "read" the ban messages.
In my experience, most of these posts are bots, like 99%. The only time it isn't a bot is when you can tell it's deliberate spam to annoy the creators, this is just imageboard spam. There are just bots that try to post to anything online, if there's a form open, they're trying to post to it. These bots have gotten eerily human-like, as people are still running these bots. This is why they tend to have "active hours", which are the same as the owner's, and it's why they need to scrape pastebin to find links (someone needs to direct the bot to the site), and bots can still fill out recaptcha, including the checkbox recaptcha. Captcha is not 100% reliable, it's realistically only like 50% reliable, it just reduces the amount of attempts cause some people don't care that their bots can't post to places with captcha.
regarding the old xyz domain getting taken down for abuse - a few smaller imageboards have been spammed with cp raids lately so I'm thinking grimchan was hit by one of the raids and reported for abuse before mods were around to remove the cp
does admin/mods think this is a possibility?
The TL;DR is "I don't know, maybe".
We didn't actually get any proper reason, they stopped responding to my emails after a while. The flag was for "illegal content" so probably? I sent them the moderation log to show that we remove that stuff, generally for server takedowns
that's all you need to send since it proves that you don't actively harbour anything, but ah well.
I say probably because google tells me people get randomly flagged by them out of literally nowhere. Just like, blogs and whatnot suddenly told they're hosting illegal stuff. So I have no idea if that was actually it.
Reminder to use the report button lole, we've got like 4 of us checking reports constantly and can't do anything if people don't do it.
how'd that go? u alright?
False alarm luckily. Or I just had no symptoms.
glad to hear it. my family had coof, but everything was fine. the old tv news watchers were like, that was it? recovered in 72 hours & they were shocked. may good health and halfway decent shitposts be upon you :^)
